POPPY, the little British girl whose adventures are depicted on the hem of a dress, takes a trip to London for British designer Bryony Richardson’s latest collection.

In the wake of the 2012 Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, for the Autumn/Winter 2012 range Poppy and her trusty dog Fred take a trip to the big city to see what all the fuss is about.

Landmark bits of the city such as Big Ben, the London Eye, Tower Bridge and Routemaster buses all make an appearance on the charming new London fabric. “They try out many different ways of getting around the city, from penny farthings to taxis and the Underground,” explained Bryony. “In the end, Poppy and Fred decide there is no better way to travel around London than by giraffe. But the giraffe gets tired after a long day’s sightseeing, so they decide to take the giraffe home on a Routemaster!” As ever, each charming outfit comes with a cute storybook telling the tale of Poppy’s newest exploits. Bryony’s hand-drawn quirky illustrations, which give nostalgic innocence a contemporary twist, are Poppy’s trademark, along with the quality cotton twill, which is printed in Leicester. The London range is all manufactured in the UK.

“We have extended the London range to five lovely new colourways, instead of our usual three. This season also brings lots of new knitwear pieces, whose colours provide highlight tones and add a real zest for life to the range. It is one of my favourite collections so far” Bryony said. Poppy and Fred are creating a wonderful world of innocent fun by taking children on a magical journey of play and adventure, drawing inspiration from the bygone eras and authors that influenced Bryony when growing up.
